Christmas Letters

Have you ever wondered what Mary, Joseph, the innkeeper, the shepherds and the Angel felt on the eve of Christ’s birth? Yorkville Congregational United Church of Christ’s Sunday School children will seek to answer that question when they present Christmas Letters during our Nativity Service on Christmas Eve.

The Nativity Service begins at 5:00 pm on Christmas Eve. This family friendly service features our children. Christmas Letters is a children’s Christmas program written by Gail Gaymer Martin and distributed by the Contemporary Drama Service. Children will be presenting letters written to the main characters of the miracle of Christmas Eve. The main characters will answer their letters to answerwhat it felt like to be present during this momentous event.

Yorkville Congregational United Church of Christ also will have a Candlelight Service at 10:00 pm. The Candlelight Service features familiar carols, scripture readings, communion and, of course, candlelight.

Please join us at one or both of these favorite services celebrating this special event of the Christian calendar.

Third Grade Bibles

Yorkville Congregational Church’s third grade students received their Bibles during the worship service on October 11.

Pictured from left to right are Katelyn Orisek, Josh Reifsteck, Matthew Bazan and Bradley Overmyer as they received their very own “Hands On Bible” from Pastor Mark Gregory.

The “Hands On Bible” includes scripture with activities to deepen children’s understanding of the Bible. Each Bible presented from the Christian Education Ministry is dedicated to the child and includes a message from their parents.

The Biblical story featured in the current Rotation Workshops of Joseph – Living in a Land of Many Colors, was marked for each child.
